Erie's roofs
Old Town Erie has the historic homes with steep, simple gables. Nearly everything else, from Vista Ridge and Erie Village to Erie Highlands, Colliers Hill and Flatiron Meadows, was built in the last twenty-five years. These homes have big, steep roofs with many facets, and they sit on open ground with little tree cover or windbreak.
The result is a lot of roof surface catching hail and wind from every direction.
Weather on the open ground
Erie is farther from the foothills than Louisville or Superior but more open than Broomfield, and storms that build over the metro arrive with room to intensify. Hail is a yearly concern and large stones are not unusual. Wind sweeps across the fields around the Erie airport and along the county line with nothing to slow it.
Winter snow drifts in the open spaces and loads north-facing slopes; ice dams are less common on the newer, better-insulated homes but do occur.
What we do in Erie
Hail inspections and claims are the largest part of our Erie work, followed by wind repairs and full replacements on roofs that were built with standard shingles and have taken several storms. Erie requires a permit and inspection for reroofing and we manage that with the town. HOA color approval applies in nearly every Erie subdivision.

Shingles for Erie
Class 4 impact-rated shingles are close to essential in Erie given its exposure, and many homeowners have moved to them after a second or third hail claim. High-wind nailing and sealed starter courses matter as much as the shingle itself. Stone-coated steel and standing-seam metal are increasingly common on homes where the owner wants to stop dealing with hail claims altogether.
Lighter colors help with the summer sun on roofs with no shade.
Scheduling and follow-through
Erie's growth means a lot of roofers passing through after storms. We are a short drive away and our crews are in Erie regularly, which makes follow-up visits and warranty calls simple.
